NBA To Stream Highlights To Mobiles

The National Basketball Association is expected to announce Monday a deal to stream video highlights to certain Nokia handsets.
The subscription service will start with June's league finals, and continue in the next regular season. The NBA is the first American sports league to come to such an arrangement, though others can't be far behind.
Details are sketchy, though the WSJ says the deal's part of a broader marketing arrangement between Nokia and the NBA. The exact structure and pricing of the service is still unclear, though it sounds like it will be free during this season's finals. An NBA exec says that next season, highlights will be available quickly after each game ends, and Nokia will notify subscribers when they are ready for viewing.
This is a pretty hefty move by an American sports league, as much of the jockeying for mobile sports rights has gone on in Europe. While the service is initially limited to 2 certain Nokia handsets, it will be interesting to see basketball fans' reaction to it.
