The Female of the Species

A new survey conducted for Siemens reveals a lot of feminine interest in UMTS.
Siemens commissioned the study of 3,000 people in France, Germany, and the UK, and found out that women's interest in several 3G services was higher than men's, dispelling some of the "boys and their toys" rep of mobile phones.
Research has shown that women send more SMS than men, and the study seems to point that will continue to hold true as users move to third-generation networks. This study found more interest among women in sending photos and videos, and a high level of interest in using handsets for e-mail as well.
It's interesting to see these types of studies emerge from the manufacturers, like the Motorola report on the social effects of mobile telephony (PDF) that was blog-popular last week. Clearly after seeing WAP fail and other technologies and services start slowly, they're concerned about the implications of mobile services, and learning about and listening to their users.
