GameBoy Goes Wireless

The Reg has the scoop on Nintendo's plan to add wireless networking capabilities to the GameBoy Advance, via an add-on module. The module reportedly uses a TDMA protocol in the unlicensed 2.4Ghz range, and Motorola is supplying the chipset. Update: Here's a picture, and the press release.

The add-on modules will be compatible with future releases of Nintendo's Pokemon franchise, enabling Pikachu fans to do battle from across the room. Why Nintendo chose to use TDMA for local area networking is a bit of a mystery...
