Camera Phone Sales Taking Off - Really?!

From the "Duh" file, an analyst report that EMEA camera phone sales are shooting through the roof.

It really doesn't come as any surprise, since so many new models feature built-in cameras, but Canalys has at least quantified the rapid growth.

They say about 3.8 million of the devices were sold in the second quarter of the year, a 166% increase over the first quarter. The market share numbers are a little more interesting, particularly to see effect the Vodafone Live! launch had for Sharp and Panasonic, who have since lost share to Samsung and Sony Ericsson.
