Camera Phones Are Fastest-Selling Consumer Device

Camera phones have replaced DVD players as the fastest-selling consumer electronics device. 80 million handsets with integrated cameras have been sold in the last 3 years, while consumers bought only 30 million DVD players in the first three years they were on sale.

While admittedly there's a healthy element of "so what?" here, it's just more proof that camera phones are gaining mass traction, regardless of efforts to limit their use.

Coincidentally, Motorola today announced a number of new camera phones, including the C450, right, filling a massive hole in its handset line up with some low-end models, though it still won't have a camera phone on sale in the US in time for the big holiday shopping season.
