Camera Phones Outselling Digital Cameras

New research shows that global sales of mobile phones with built-in cameras outpaced digital cameras in the first half of the year.

A report from Strategy Analytics says that 25 million phones with integrated cameras were shipped in the first six months of 2004, while just 20 million standalone digital cameras were sold.

Both products are seeing tremendous growth, with just 4 million camera phones sold in the first half of 2002, while the number of digital cameras sold doubled over the same period last year.

We've written a lot lately about camera phones, but even a previous post on sales figures didn't give this much indication of just how pervasive they're becoming.
